Our Mission
The Lake County Joint Apprenticeship and Training
Committee (JATC) is committed to providing an educated, well-trained
workforce through the cooperation of both labor and management. Our goal
is to help workers develop the skills, knowledge, and ability needed to
retain highly paid jobs in the electrical construction industry. The Lake County
JATC pledges to educate workers through supervised on-the-job training and related classroom instruction. In the
apprenticeship you literally EARN WHILE YOU LEARN. As you advance through your
training, you receive regular pay increases. As you develop more complex job skills and
improve your knowledge, you are rewarded for your hard work. You also LEARN BY
DOING. A qualified journeyperson supervises your on-the-job-training.
The Lake County JATC offers two apprenticeship training programs. Both the Inside and Telecommunication programs are registered with the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
INSIDE WIREMAN PROGRAM- This is our five-year apprenticeship consisting of a minimum of 8000 hours of on-the-job training, and a minimum of 900 hour of related classroom instruction.
TELECOMMUNICATION PROGRAM - This is our four-year apprenticeship consisting of a minimum of 6400 hours of on-the-job training's, and a minimum of 720 hours of related classroom instruction.
JOURNEYMAN CONTINUING EDUCATION: We offer continuing education classes to our Journeyman Wireman. Our goal is to keep our membership trained to be the best in the business.
